Parts of the Kidney     Whole Kidney - You can only see the renal cortex with a little bit of the             renal  pelvis sticking out with the long whitish tube is the ureter.

                              Half Kidney- Here you can see everything. The outside layer is the renal cortex and the slightly darker inner layer is the renal medulla. The renal pelvis is clearly visibal white area in the middle of the kidney that leads to the ureter.
